No Obligation Suspension Assessment in Workshop.
Worn suspension shows up as a noise, a feel, or a tyre. Most drivers live with it for months, because the car still drives.
Uneven or abnormal tyre wear
Bumpy, floaty or uncomfortable ride
Squeaking, knocking or unusual noises
Oil leakage
Excessive car body movement
Car Alignment is not correct
When a workshop tells you that your “suspension is gone,” the first question to ask is: which part?
Your suspension is made up of several components, each with a different job, lifespan and repair cost. Understanding which component is causing the problem can help you avoid unnecessary repairs and expenses.
Shock Absorbers
Also known as dampers, shock absorbers control the movement of the springs after your car goes over a bump. When they wear out, the car may feel bouncy or unstable, dip excessively under braking, and lose grip more easily on wet roads because the tyres are not staying firmly planted.
Springs
Springs support the weight of the car and maintain its ride height. Unlike shock absorbers, springs usually don't wear out gradually. They are more likely to crack or break, sometimes with a noticeable bang. A broken spring may also cause one corner of the car to sit visibly lower than the others.
Arms, Bushings, Links and Mounts
These components help hold the suspension in position while reducing vibration and road noise inside the cabin. Worn bushings, links or mounts are common causes of knocking or clunking sounds, especially when driving over bumps. The good news is that these parts are often less expensive to replace than major suspension components.

For a full set of shock absorber replacements, Japanese cars typically cost around $1,000-$2,000, depending on the vehicle model, brand and suspension series selected.
For continental cars, the range is generally wider at approximately $1,300-$4,000, depending on the vehicle and suspension setup.
Most vehicles will fall within these ranges, although certain models or specialised suspension systems may cost more.
With Singapore's COE system, many car owners reach a point where they have only 1-2 years of COE remaining and are unsure whether they will renew their COE.
If this sounds familiar, replacing the entire suspension system may not always be necessary.
We recommend starting with a thorough suspension inspection and diagnosis. This allows us to determine which components genuinely require replacement and which are still in good working condition.
We understand that if you only intend to keep your car for another year or two, you may not want to invest heavily in it. After inspecting your vehicle, we can advise which components can safely be retained and where costs can reasonably be reduced — without compromising safety or reliability.
Our goal isn't simply to sell you a complete suspension replacement. It's to recommend the most practical solution based on your car's condition, your budget and how long you intend to keep the vehicle.
There are many workshops in Singapore that provide general servicing and repair work. As a specialist in exhaust and suspension systems, Jeep Chee works with a wide range of vehicles and suspension setups every day.
What you get from a specialist goes beyond the parts themselves. You also benefit from the experience to diagnose the problem accurately, recommend the right solution and install the components properly.
Our aim is to make your suspension replacement as smooth and hassle-free as possible while reducing the likelihood of repeat visits caused by incorrect diagnosis, installation issues or unresolved problems.
From our experience, suspension work can sometimes result in frustrating after-sales issues, including persistent noises, alignment problems, premature wear or improper installation. Because suspension systems contain many interconnected components, these problems can sometimes be difficult to diagnose and may require several visits to resolve.
We know your time is valuable. That’s why we take responsibility for the work we carry out and aim to get the job done properly from the start.
Of course, no workshop can guarantee that an older vehicle will never develop another suspension-related issue. However, if you experience a problem after our installation, you can bring the car back to us. We’ll inspect it, identify the cause and work towards resolving the issue.
For us, being a suspension specialist isn’t just about knowing how to replace shock absorbers. It’s about diagnosing problems correctly, carrying out the work properly and standing behind the work we do.
Knocking, clunking, squeaking or other unusual noises can be frustrating because a suspension system contains many interconnected components. This means the source of a noise isn’t always immediately obvious — even after a thorough initial inspection.
Our diagnosis starts with a comprehensive check of the suspension system, looking for visible signs of trouble such as cracks, excessive wear, loose components or parts that are already due for replacement.
If there is no obvious cause but the noise continues, a more detailed diagnosis may be necessary. This involves systematically checking individual suspension components and isolating potential sources of the noise.
This process can take additional time because suspension noises can travel through different components, making the sound appear to come from somewhere other than its actual source.
Rather than replacing parts based on guesswork, our priority is to identify the root cause first.
It may take a little more time, but a proper diagnosis helps avoid unnecessary replacements, saves you from spending money on parts that may not solve the problem, and gives us a better chance of resolving the issue properly.
